BPU’s Water Department will continue with its multi-year Main Street water main replacement program that we started last year (read that announcement here).
Our next area of focus will be on the east side of the 200 and 300 blocks of north Main Street (between Marlin and the railroad tracks), requiring portions of Main Street parking stalls and one lane of roadway to be closed to vehicle traffic. We understand that this will create a level of inconvenience for Main Street businesses and their customers. However, parking and traffic closures are necessary to install the new water main safely and adequately.
Construction and closures of the east side, 300 block of Main Street, will begin 03/08/2021 and are expected to last four weeks. Construction and closures of the east side of the 200 blocks of south main are expected to commence around 04/05/2021 and last approximately four weeks.
BPU takes great pride in both its electric and water systems. This project is necessary to ensure BPU’s high level of safe and reliable water service will be continued.
The BPU would like to formally thank businesses who have been impacted by the project for their patience and cooperation.
