The BPU takes great pride in both their electric and water systems. For this reason, they are continually reinvesting in their infrastructure and working on projects that keep both systems safe and reliable.
On February 10th, 2020, the BPU Water Department kicked off its multiyear Main Street water main replacement program, which will replace the cast iron pipe that runs along the east and west side of McPherson’s Main Street. BPU originally planned to focus on one block per year to minimize any inconvenience to the local businesses and the community. Since the project kickoff, BPU has completed the piping replacement on the 200 block of S. Main well ahead of schedule. Given this timeline improvement and due to the unfortunate fact that several businesses are temporarily closed because of the COVID-19 threat, BPU decided to proceed with the 100 block of S. Main. This block is expected to be completed by May 29th, 2020.
The BPU would like to formally thank businesses who have been impacted by the project for their patience and cooperation.
