The McPherson BPU has been providing dependable, quality water service to the homes and residences in our community since 1969. Today, McPherson BPU serves nearly 5,073 residential water customers in a service area of approximately 225 square miles. The service area includes the city of McPherson and 4 rural water districts.

McPherson BPU’s water system includes a water treatment facility, three water towers, 110 miles of water pipes, and 12 water supply wells to gather water from the Equus Beds underground aquifer.

McPherson BPU has the capacity to pump more than 10,800,000 gallons of water a day to its customers, and stores 3,000,000 gallons of water in above ground reservoirs and elevated tanks as well as another 1,500,000 in underground storage.  In addition to this, the McPherson BPU supports 554 fire hydrants throughout the city of McPherson.

The McPherson Board of Public Utilities understands the importance of conserving and protecting our natural resources. Every year the McPherson BPU puts on the Children’s Water Festival to educate area 4th graders on being good stewards of our natural resources.
