The McPherson Board of Public Utilities delivers some of the lowest-cost and most reliable power and water in the State. However, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as well as we do without our people. For this reason, we want to showcase those people who significantly impact our business and community with an “Employee Spotlight.”
On Wednesday, the 27th, it was announced that the recipient of September’s Employee of the Month was Jared Hagemann. Jared is the new Superintendent of Substations and Plant Controls. He has served the McPherson BPU and its customers for 18 years, starting as an apprentice lineman.
Jared grew up in Emporia and then attended lineman school at Manhattan Area Technical College. While in school He secured a summer internship as a lineman apprentice. He found that he enjoyed the employees and atmosphere of the company, so when Jared was offered a permanent position, he readily accepted.
When asked what his favorite part about working for the utility provider, he stated, “I enjoy the ability to work with other departments as a team, all focused on the same goals.” When asked what he would say to anyone considering a job at the McPherson BPU, he said, “BPU is a company that is ever-changing, doing its best to improve service to the customer and a great work environment for its employees.”
Outside of work, Jared enjoys outdoor sports like golf and fishing, but he enjoys watching his kids compete in sports activities and spending time with his family the most!
Per General Manager Josh Bedel: “For September’s Employee Spotlight, I’m excited to continue the theme of professional growth and willingness to accept new challenges. Jared Hagemann has exemplified these qualities and is well deserving of this accolade. Jared has served the BPU and our customers since joining the team in 2005 as a lineman apprentice. Since then, Jared has excelled in his career and progressed into leadership roles within the Electric Operations Department. Most recently, Jared has been promoted to Superintendent of Substation and Plant Controls, where he’s responsible for the management and maintenance of all utility substations and ownership of our combustion turbine control systems. Congratulations to Jared on this great accomplishment. Keep challenging yourself.”
Thank you, Jared, for serving the BPU and the McPherson Community.
