The McPherson Board of Public Utilities delivers some of the lowest-cost and most reliable power and water in the State. However, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as well as we do without our people. For this reason, we want to showcase those people who significantly impact our business and community with an “Employee Spotlight.”
On Friday, the 26th, it was announced that the recipient of May’s Employee of the Month was Samantha Archer. Samantha is a Lead Customer Service Representative and has been employed with the BPU for five years!
Samantha grew up in McPherson and knew what a great reputation the McPherson BPU had as a service provider and as an employer. She said that she knew BPU employees were known for their exceptional work ethic shown in their hard work, their honesty and in their dependability; she said that she just knew she wanted to be a part of that. The perception she held of the BPU employee culture has held true, when asked what her favorite part about working at the BPU is she stated, “The team environment is my favorite. I have such great coworkers; we bring out the best in each other and we are always there for one another to offer support when its needed.”
Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children and working on home improvement projects.
When asked what she would say to anyone considering a job at the McPherson BPU, she said, “ The BPU genuinely cares about their employees. They invest in each one of us and are always going the extra mile to provide us with opportunities to learn and grow!”.

As BPU’s Lead Customer Service Representative, Samantha is one of the first faces and/or voices that new and existing customers interact with when contacting the BPU. Through her experience and expertise she ensures the customer’s experience is always efficient, accurate, and equitable. When faced with challenging circumstances, Samantha maintains her composure and professionalism while safeguarding BPU’s commitment to being a balanced partner of the community. BPU appreciates Samantha’s commitment, and we’re delighted to honor her with this recognition.”
