On Friday, September 16th, 2022, BPU General Manager retired after 38 years of service to the BPU and the McPherson Community.  To honor him for his service, a banquet was held in his honor where over 125 people showed up to thank him and wish him well.  Tim expressed multiple times how fortunate he had been to have spent his entire professional career at a great organization working with dedicated employees who take pride in what they do. While he will be greatly missed, the Board of Public Utilities was left in capable hands under the direction of the new General Manager, Josh Bedel and the new Assistant General Manager, Dustin Ringer.

Josh Bedel, former BPU Assistant General Manager has been at the BPU since June 2018 and had previous utility experience while working for Indianapolis Power and Light (AES Indiana) since 2010. Josh stated, “I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead a utility that is committed to reliable, cost competitive services while staying community focused. Tim Maier exemplified this commitment through his great leadership, and I am honored to continue this role.” Josh received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Kansas and Indiana.

Dustin Ringer, BPU’s former Project Engineer, has been with the utility since May 2019 and for the previous 11 years worked for Westar Energy (Evergy) at their Jeffrey Energy Center. He has an Electrical Engineering Degree from Kansas State University.
