Are you planning a remodel or anything requiring electrical upgrades in your home? If so, remember to have your qualified person call the BPU before pulling the electrical meter.  The new AMI meters allow BPU to monitor the system in real-time, and therefore, our crews can see when the meter is pulled, which signals a possible outage at the residence. If we cannot reach the homeowner to verify, we dispatch crews to restore power which can be costly. Seals are placed on all meters or meter enclosures by BPU; if anyone other than an authorized representative of BPU breaks or disturbs the seal, the customer may be assessed a fee.  Call BPU at 620-245-2515 to schedule a time to have your meter pulled and replaced by BPU. Arrangements can be made to assist customers with this after hours or on the weekend if the need should arise.
