The McPherson Board of Public Utilities announced and welcomed Josh Bedel as the incoming Assistant General Manager.  Bedel will support Tim Maier, the General Manager by providing management and professional engineering work on activities associated with the BPU’s water and electric systems operation, planning, and development.   Bedel who started on June 18th, 2018 will officially assume the role of the Assistant General Manager at the end of 2018 when the current Assistant General Manager, Mark Wurm retires.  Bedel is a licensed Professional Engineer, who earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2006 from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He comes to the McPherson BPU with eight years of experience with Indianapolis Power and Light where he served as a Unit Leader in charge of plant operations and electric distribution, which is a backup role to the plant manager. Bedel relocated to McPherson with his Wife Rachel and their three-year-old daughter, Grace.  “It’s an honor joining the well-respected BPU team, and I’m excited to serve both them and the McPherson community. My wife, Rachel, and I are grateful for the opportunity to raise our daughter in such a safe and family orientated city.”, Bedel Stated.

The BPU started their search for the Assistant General Manager in February 2018 shortly after Mark Wurm, who has held the position since 2008 announced his retirement.  Read Mark’s announcement here.
