The McPherson Board of Public Utilities delivers some of the lowest-cost and most reliable power and water in the State. However, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as well as we do without our people. For this reason, we want to showcase those people who significantly impact our business and community with an “Employee Spotlight.”

On Wednesday, October 26th, it was announced that October’s Employee of the Month recipient was Jim Wenderott. Jim is a Crew Chief serving in the Electric Department. Jim has been with the BPU for an impressive forty years!!!

Jim is originally from Alma, Kansas; however, He and his family have lived here for many years.
Outside of work, He enjoys being outdoors: camping, fishing, and attending his grandson’s sporting events!

Jim joined BPU right after graduating from Manhattan VoTech. He knew he needed to check out the opportunities at the BPU after hearing the instructor of his Electric Power classes, Bruce Peil, refer to the BPU, on several occasions, as “the best utility in the state.” Jim couldn’t agree with Bruce more! Wenderott stated: “my favorite part about working for the McPherson Board of Public Utilities is the opportunity to work with such a great bunch of co-workers; also, I really enjoy the feeling you get when we get power restored to that last customer after a storm!”

“Jim has devoted 40 years of service to BPU and the McPherson community. We are all grateful for his commitment to the utility, and have been a recipient of this commitment while Jim has provided countless hours over the past 4 decades responding to storm damage and other electrical outages.  Jim’s provided many years of proven leadership as a Crew Leader and his knowledge of our electrical system is unmatched. It’s an honor professionally and personally to recognized Jim as this month’s Employee Spotlight” said General Manager, Josh Bedel.

Congratulations Jim Wenderott! We sincerely thank you for your service!
