BPU’s Water Department continues its water main replacement program.
This year, our first area of focus is on Maple St., starting at Elizabeth St and going South to Haight St. We understand that this will create a level of inconvenience for homeowners along this section of Maple as we replace the line and update services from the main to the meter. However, the work is necessary to ensure reliability by replacing the 100-year-old 4 inch cast iron pipe with 6 inch PVC pipe.
This section’s construction and closures began on Monday, 04/04/2022, and will last approximately eight weeks.
Later this summer, the BPU plans to begin this work at Baer and Kansas.
BPU takes great pride in both its electric and water systems. This project is necessary to continue BPU’s high level of safe and reliable water service.
